LABOUR MP Mark Tami has repaid £996.70 to the treasury after mistakenly over claiming expenses for Council Tax and water rates on his second home between 2005 and 2007.
The error was brought to light last week by the Daily Telegraph newspaper, who accused Mr Tami, along with 50 other MPs of claiming £1,500 in council tax on his South London property.
In response to this Mr Tami said he apologises unreservedly for the error, which he says was due to him claiming council tax for twelve months instead of ten.
"I asked the Fees Office on Monday to calculate what the over claim was and to confirm how it came about," he said.
"I am extremely sorry for this mistake," he added.
Mr Tami has been the MP for Alyn and Deeside since 2001 and is also a Government whip
