Man in Flint flat fall is named

A POLICE investigation was launched after the body of a young man was found near a block of high-rise flats in Flint.

The man, who has been named as Mark Alan Bennett, 20, of Wood Lane, Holywell, is believed to have fallen from the roof of the 14-storey Richard Heights off Feather Street at about 7am on Tuesday.

But after speaking to witnesses police say they are not treating the death as suspicious.

He is believed he gained access to the block of flats and climbed on to the roof from inside.

“It was about 7am – there was a hell of a bang,” said one female resident, who asked not to be named. “It’s dreadful. That’s someone’s son.”

Flint inspector Dave Roome said: “We conducted an initial investigation and after speaking with witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage of the scene we are not treating the incident as suspicious.

“A report will be prepared for the coroner and a post-mortem examination will have to be held.”

The body was found by a carer between Richard Heights and the adjacent Bolingbroke Heights tower. Police had removed it and cleared the area by 10am.

Don Doran, chairman of the Richard, Bolingbroke and Castle Heights Residents Association, said: “We do remind the residents on a regular basis to watch who they’re letting in.

“All the tenants have a key and either this person had a key or has been let in. To get on the roof you would certainly need a key.”

He added: “It’s a terrible thing that happened, it’s a sad time.”
