North East Wales Wildlife needs help to track reptiles around Mold

NORTH East Wales Wildlife is calling on all reptile enthusiasts to take part in an ongoing project.

NEWW has received funding from the Countryside Council for Wales to carry out a reptile awareness project to help people in North Wales learn about their native reptiles and help with surveys and collecting records to determine the distribution of reptiles in the area.

They are looking for volunteers to help carry out surveys for reptiles around North East Wales.

This would help NEWW to learn more about the distribution of grass snakes, common lizards, adders and slow worms in the area.

For this, they are offering a free training course on reptile identification, ecology and survey techniques on Saturday, July 18, at Llandegla Forest, near Mold.

It is hoped as many people as possible will return for a few more visits to try to record the presence of the reptiles at various sites around North East Wales.

These free training courses are open to anyone and knowledge of reptiles is not essential as training will be provided.

Booking is essential by calling 01352 742 115 or email cweo@newwildlife.org.uk.
