Children In Need television appearance for Llanfynydd leukaemia sufferer Max Tami

AN 11-YEAR-OLD who has battled with leukaemia for two years has been invited to join in the fun at BBC’s Children in Need.

Max Tami has been interviewed by the BBC about an organisation called Twin Vision, which worked with him while he was receiving treatment at Alder Hey Hospital.

Max, from Llanfynydd, was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2007 and underwent a bone marrow transplant last year.

He still has to go back to the hospital for monthly check-ups, but has responded well to the transplant.

His mum, Sally, said: “Twin Vision works with children to make Plasticine models, which are then turned into animations.

“It keeps the children occupied and takes their minds off their treatment. Max really enjoyed the work they did with him and got to make his own model character, Supermouse.”

The interview with Max, son of Alyn and Deeside Labour MP Mark Tami, will be made into a four minute video which will be screened on the Children in Need website and on the programme.

He’s also featured on an advert for the fundraiser which shows constantly on BBC Teletext and to thank him for his help, the crew has invited him to watch the show on November 20.

“He’s looking forward to it,” Sally said.

“He was a bit taken aback when he saw himself on the advert though!”

Max started at Castell Alun High School, Hope, in September.

Sally said: “He’s really enjoying his new school and making lots of friends.”

Dad Mark added: “He’s doing really well, although we do have to be careful because his immune system is still low.”
