Clwyd YFC elects new leaders

CLWYD Federation of Young Farmers Clubs (YFC) looked back on a year of achievement at its annual general meeting.

More than 60 members witnessed new county president John S Davies, of Northop YFC, being welcomed to the helm.

Heledd Owen from Conwy was elected chairman.

Gil Morrilly of Maelor YFC became vice-president and Mari Jones of Llangollen YFC vice-chairman.

Outgoing president Ellen Roberts, of Betws yn Rhos YFC, and chairman Edward Morgan of Cilcain YFC, were thanked for their hard work. Edward thanked everyone for their support and said he was encouraged by the number of younger clubs emerging which promised some good competitors for the future.

Silverware was awarded to outstanding competitors from Flintshire.

Dafydd Williams won the Under-16 Stockman of the Year Shield and Jonathan Hulme, also of Cilcain, won the Under-26 Stockman of the Year Shield.

Llangollen YFC won the Best Club cup.
