AGE Concern North East Wales is appealing for volunteers from across Flintshire to help out on a new partnership programme with firefighters.
As part of a new joint working approach with North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, specially trained Age Concern North East Wales volunteers will be providing fire safety advice and fitting smoke alarms in the homes of older residents across the county.
Project coordinator Kim Waller said: “We at North Wales Fire and Rescue Service are keen to work with Age Concern to give potentially life saving fire safety advice to older residents.
“We are looking for volunteers who would be interested in learning more about keeping safe from fire and who would like to join with us in our work to protect the residents of North Wales.”
Maria Palmer, of Age Concern North East Wales, added: “This is an extremely rewarding and exciting opportunity to help safeguard the lives of older residents across the county.
“Interested people should be available in the day, have access to a car and be comfortable using a step ladder. This role would especially suit those who enjoy meeting people, who are good at problem solving and who have some level of practical skills.”
