Flintshire Ramblers meet North Wales AM Mark Isherwood

A NORTH Wales AM donned his wellies to join the Flintshire Ramblers for a walk around Treuddyn.

Mark Isherwood met with Ron Williams, North Wales area footpath secretary for the Ramblers Association, John Roberts, Neville Howell and Treuddyn councillor Carolyn Thomas.

They discussed proposals to create a series of circular walks in the area.

Mr Isherwood said: “I was pleased to learn of the work that Flintshire County Council has been doing to improve access for all and of the co-operation provided by many land owners.

“However I was also able to see first-hand some of the barriers and blocked access in place on public rights of way, and recognise the need to remove these.

“Access to the countryside combined with physical exercise is good for the body and good for the soul.

“We also discussed proposals to extend the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

“I urge the Countryside Council for Wales to give positive consideration to the call for Treuddyn and Llanfynydd to be included within this.”
