Penymynydd pupil Alex wins stained glass window design competition

AN ARTISTIC youngster at a village school used his creative talent to design a new stained glass window.

Alex Livingstone, five, came up with the winning design for the new window, which will now be displayed above the front door of St John the Baptist School in Penymynydd.

Headteacher Les Byrne said: “When we replaced our external door for a more secure one there was damage to the old window, so we decided to establish a new stained glass window and had a competition.

“We had quite a few entries from children and families, who were given a template design to work from.”

He added: “The designs were of a very high quality and the judging took a long time.

“Alex’s design was chosen because it showed and included everything the school is about.

“The family have also received a small replica of the stained glass window to hang in their house.”
