Cymru Alliance: Flint Town United maintain five-point lead at top
FLINT Town United made an instant return to winning ways on Saturday to stay five points clear of Llangefni Town at the top of the Cymru Alliance.
The Silkmen shrugged aside fears that their previous week’s goalless draw with Llandudno would knock them out of their title stride with a 2-0 win at Caernarfon Town.
Matt Roberts opened the scoring in the 31st minute from long range before the Canaries – now managed by former Buckley Town boss Simon Sedgwick – went close when Dylan Owen rattled the bar.
And that was the way it stayed until nine minute into the second half when the league’s leading goalscorer Shaun Beck raced on to a pass from new boy Lee T Jones and fired home.
Flint travel to Denbigh Town on Saturday (2pm) before welcoming Bethesda Athletic to Cae y Castell on Wednesday (7.30pm).
Mold Alexandra, meanwhile, were left to kick their heels on Saturday as their trip to Lex XI was frozen off. That denied Danny Seamarks’ enigmatic side the chance to build on the excellent 1-0 victory they recorded at Llandudno last Wednesday.
Owain Roberts got the winner for sixth-placed Mold, who host fifth-placed Penrhyncoch on Saturday (2.30pm).
