Cymru Alliance – Sweet revenge for Flint Town United

REVENGE tasted sweet for Flint Town United on Saturday as they warmed up for tomorrow’s Flintshire derby at Mynydd Isa (6.30pm) in style.

Following their 0-0 home draw with Llandudno last Wednesday, the Silkmen made it three wins in their last four games with a 2-1 triumph at inconsistent Guilsfield.

The Mid Wales outfit knocked Paul Davies’ side out of the League Cup, but they got their own back with goals from top-scoring captain Shaun Beck, now up to 39 in all competitions, and Jack Abraham.

“It was a pleasing result,” said Flint boss Davies, who hopes to welcome back Stefan Halewood and Johnny Hill against Isa. “We played very well in the first half to take a 2-0 lead, which was fully deserved. Guilsfield came at us in the second half, but it was another good win and we want to keep our run going.”

Badly under-strength Buckley Town, in contrast, just cannot wait for their season to end. They went down 4-0 at home to title-challenging Holyhead Hotspur on Saturday.

Mid-table Buckley, who were away to rock-bottom Llandyrnog United last night in a match played after the Chronicle went to press, are away to third-from-bottom Gresford Athletic on Saturday (2.30pm).

Flint host third-from-bottom Gresford Athletic on Wednesday (7.30pm), their last game at home this term.
