Basketball: Former England international Delme Herriman signs for Glyndwr Nets

BIG Storage Glyndwr Nets have highlighted their ambition with the capture of a former England international.

Former Chester Jets ace Delme Herriman has signed for the EBL Division two outfit after a spell in the BBL with Everton Tigers.

The 36-year-old was part of the England team that claimed a bronze medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and spent four years of his early career playing for Wright State University in Ohio.

Nets fell to their first defeat of the season when they went down 84-69 at Brixton.

They put up a spirited effort and were just pipped in each quarter, 19-14, 18-14, 24-20 and 23-21.

Frenchman Max Casenove put in a man-of-the-match for Nets as he top-scored for the North Wales side with 21 points.

The Nets are next in action on Saturday (5pm) when they take on Northumberland in a home game that will take place at Birchwood Leisure Centre, Warrington.

The match is the first time Nets will be playing outside of their usual university home, and they do so as part of their deal with BiG Storage, who have a base in the Cheshire town.

Nets will be hoping for a big turnout after more than 700 tickets have been given out in the area.
