SCHOOLGIRL Stephanie Collister, of Burton, near Wrexham, was chosen as the Wrexham Chronicle’s winner of the Your Champions sport category.
The 14-year-old Wrexham Fencing Club member is proving herself to be one of the country’s best up-and-coming fencers.
Stephanie is currently ranked ninth in Great Britain at under- 17s level and first in Wales for her age group.
She is in the Great Britain cadet squad and has been invited to represent Wales at senior level following a year to remember.
Stephanie fights with the foil weapon and in February won a silver medal in the British Youth Championships in February before competing in the Commonwealth Junior Championships in Malaysia, where she helped Wales to a team silver medal.
The Christleton High School student was part of the Welsh regional team that won the senior Winton Cup for the first time this century before claiming a bronze medal in a big international competition in France.
She also won individual and team bronze medals in the UK School Games.
