CREAMFIELDS festival has been named as Tourism Event Of The Year at The Mersey Partnership Tourism Awards 2009.
The Daresbury dance event, to be held on August 29 and 30, fought off the British Open Golf Championships, Tate Liverpool, Klimt and Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
Cream CEO James Barton was proud to receive such lofty recognition. He said: “This is truly an amazing honour. We strive for the best and over the last 10 years we feel we’ve delivered a unique and amazing event – and we hope leave our region with a positive impression.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has helped make Creamfields the award-winning festival it has become.”
The awards, which honour quality and excellence in tourism, are organised by the Mersey Partnership. The ceremony took place at Liverpool’s BT Convention Centre.
Along with 10 other winners, Creamfields goes forward to represent the region in the North West regional awards.
The festival has previously been recognised in the music and event industry.
This summer’s headline acts are Basement Jaxx, Paul van Dyk, Dizzee Rascal, 2manydjs Live and Calvin Harris.
