Flintshire Freeze player donates proceeds of testimonial to Peter McFerran Appeal
A FLINTSHIRE Freeze ice hockey star has made a donation to the Chronicle’s Peter McFerran Appeal.
Steve Fellows has played for the Freeze for a decade and was awarded a testimonial match. After reading about the bid to buy an incubator for the Countess of Chester Hospital in Peter’s memory, he decided to donate the proceeds.
Steve said: “Although I am now the deputy manager of a North Wales children’s home I did once work at RAF Sealand.
“I live on Deeside and couldn’t think of a better cause to support, especially as I have a 11-week-old baby. I know how important incubators are to premature babies.
“As yet, I am unsure of exactly how much has been raised by the testimonial but it is expected to be a couple of hundred pounds.”
Peter McFerran’s sister Elaine Fairley and cousin Jane Barham dropped in on last Sunday’s Freeze match to be presented with an interim cheque by Steve.
