DESPITE all the gloomy news of recession and credit crunch, local food producer and retailer Hawarden Estate Farm Shop, has reported excellent trade over Christmas.
More than 2,000 trees were sold in the lead up to the festive season, together with hundreds of turkeys and pheasants, all sourced from the best local suppliers.
More than five miles of sausages, enough to stretch from the farm shop almost to Chester, also passed over the shop’s quality meat counter.
Staff believe its success is testimony to the quality of the produce at the shop.
Hawarden Estate Farm Shop manager, Alan Downes, said: “This was our first Christmas so it was important to get it right. Real food, superior quality, and a dash of tradition – that was our proposition for Christmas and new year.
“The response from our customers has been fantastic and we are already looking forward to next Christmas!”
The Hawarden Estate Farm Shop entered 2009 with the launch of a loyalty scheme, by way of a thank you to regular customers.
Application forms are available in the farm shop.
