PREPARATIONS for Mold Spring Clean are now well under way, with less than three weeks to go until the big event on April 24-27.
More than 200 volunteers have already signed up for the four day clean up, including the Women’s Institute, the Ramblers Association, Walk about Flintshire, Keep Wales Tidy and numerous church groups from around the town.
Organiser and town centre manager Dave Hill is now asking children from Mold to name the Spring Clean mascot, currently known as “Springy”. Adults are also being asked to provide the Spring Clean with a catch line of less then 10 words.
The winner will receive a £20 voucher for a local shop, while children will receive a pogo stick.
“Lots of residents, community groups and businesses have already pledged their support,” said Mr Hill.
“Local businesses have promised to wash their windows, refresh their paint work etc, as well as sponsoring a hanging basket in the town.
“The youth justice service will also be getting involved, providing some of the heavier labour.
“It’s all about instilling some community pride, sprucing the town up and invigorating and refreshing the place.”
