Buckley barber Clive Jones to undergo head shave for cancer charity

A DEVOTED son is determined to show his mother, who is battling cancer, just how much he loves her.

Buckley barber Clive Jones will be having his hair shaved off to raise money for charity.

Clive and the rest of the family have been devastated since mother-of-four and grandmother-of-10 Beryl Ann Jones was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in July.

It’s happened at a time when she and her husband Noel Thompson Jones are about to mark their golden wedding anniversary.

The couple married at Hough Green Methodist Church in Saltney on October 10, 1959.

Family and friends are joining them at their home in Park Avenue, Mynydd Isa, this Saturday.

Beryl and Noel have requested no presents but, if anyone wishes to give, they’re collecting donations for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Clive will be having his head shaved next Monday evening at Buckley Conservative Club.

It will raise funds for the Shooting Star Specialist Cancer Unit, Wrexham Maelor Hospital, where Beryl is undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

He said: “To support mum, I’m also going to be on the receiving end of the clippers.

“You cannot imagine the shock which went through the family.

“But the one thing holding us all together is Mum’s positive attitude. She’s been brilliant throughout her treatment so far and says she’ll not let it beat her.

“Even losing her hair hasn’t phased her. She’s always making light of it and is on the receiving end of all the family jokes.

“But we’re helping mum to beat cancer like dad did for Cancer Research over many years.”

Anyone wishing to sponsor Clive can call into his shop, Clive’s Gentleman’s Hairdressers, Hibberts Corner, Mold Road, or phone him on 01244 520232 or 07950 005 556.
