Miss Flintshire 2010 crowned

THE winner of Miss Flintshire 2010 has been crowned.

Lauren Rowley, 20, from Connah’s Quay, won the title at a ceremony at Theatr Colwyn in Colwyn Bay.

Lauren, who is working towards a degree in Primary Education, will compete in the grand final for the title of Miss Wales 2010, along with runners up Claire Davies, 19, a holistic therapist, and Leah Bennett, 18, a deputy manager at a retail store.

The event, sponsored by Su-Su Jewellery and Prom Dresses in Conwy and Lumini Mobile Hair and Holistic in Clwyd, saw the 13 finalists take part in three catwalk rounds wearing casual clothes, little black dresses and evening dresses.

The contestants were judged by Clare Birt, Director of Vibe Models, Laura Livesey, Miss Wales 2005 first runner up, Cllr Linda Groom and Adrian Cornelius, a representative from The Joshua Foundation.

Paula Abbandonato, PR director of Vibe Models, said: “All of the finalists were beautiful and the dresses were beautiful!

“The girls worked hard on the day at rehearsals and it really showed in the evening.”

Ruth Eccleson, 19, from Connah’s Quay, was awarded the Miss Charity title for raising the most money for The Joshua Foundation.

Altogether, the 13 finalists raised more than £2,000 for the charity and the top three will continue to fundraise in the lead up to the Miss Wales finals next summer.

The winner of the competition’s public vote was Sophie-Alexandra Jones, 16, from Whitford.

Paula said: “We are delighted with our winners and are thrilled about the money all of the girls raised for the charity.

“I’m sure the girls will do Flintshire proud at the final of Miss Wales next year and wish them the best of luck with their preparation and fundraising.”
