Castell Alun fall victim to league leaders

PREMIER Division title favourites Rhos Aelwyd proved too strong for a battling Castell Alun Colts side.

The leaders emerged victorious 3-1 with Richard Belton giving hosts Castell a glimmer of hope.

The key action in the lower regions was in the Horace Wynne Cup, but it wasn’t a great day for Flintshire sides. Buckley United were mauled 5-0 by Garden Village and Ruthin defeated Mold Juniors 1-0.

In the Reserves Division, league leaders Airbus were held to a 2-2 draw at Rhos Aelwyd and Castell Alun were crushed 5-1 by Borras Park Albion.

Hawarden Rangers narrowly defeated Llangollen 2-1 with goals from George Thomas and Paulo Krisato.

In the Reserves and Colts league, Penley had no answer to rampant New Brighton who floored them 7-1 with efforts from Bryn Roberts, who notched four goals, Charlie Barton (2) and Tony Howard.

Richard Jones netted twice and Sam Richardson once, but it wasn’t enough for Penyffordd who lost 8-3 at Brymbo.
