Martial arts: Flintshire clubs invited to MMA cage fighting event

MEMBERS of martial arts clubs in the Flintshire area are being invited to a cage fighting competition in April, featuring mixed martial arts, Thai boxing and kickboxing.

Williams was the first person to promote a Thai or kickboxing show in Wales in 1986.

Over the years, he has helped many people from his own and other clubs become champions, including five world champions who have competed all over the world, from Moscow to Japan, Kazakhstan, Australia and the USA.

He said: “I did three shows last year and each one gained in popularity with fighters and spectators, culminating with 18 fights and over 1,000 spectators in November.

“This is the first show this year and we are expecting this one to be even better, with so many people already enquiring about tickets for the show and it being two months away. People are also looking forward to this one as it’s Bank Holiday Sunday so they can have a lie-in the next day!

“I am grateful to the sponsors Stephen Wickwar of Cynergy Security and Clare Sloan of L’etage restaurant for their continued support.”

The show will be held at Liquid Nightclub in Wrexham on Bank Holiday Sunday, April 4.

Anyone interested in competing can contact organiser Russ Williams on 07814516102 or through the website www.RussWilliamsMartialArts.co.uk

Tickets will be on sale next week and can be obtained through Russ at the above phone number.
