Derek Acorah brings show back to Hanley

SCOUSE psychic Derek Acorah spirits himself into the Victoria Hall in Hanley tomorrow (Thursday) with his interactive mediumship show.

He claims to be guided by an Ethiopian spirit named Sam, and his charismatic approach to his work has made him arguably the most famous psychic in the country.

Acorah says his first supernatural experience came as a child when the spirit of his grandfather visited him.

His early career was as a footballer. He played for Liverpool and later for an Australian premier team.

On his return to England in the 1980s, he set up as a medium in Liverpool , but it is over the past 10 years he has gained an international reputation, as a presenter on TV shows Most Haunted, Ghost Towns and The Antiques Ghost Show.

In an interview with the Chronicle last year, Derek said: “I never actually wanted to be a medium, I wanted to be a footballer. When I finished in football at the age of 26 with a knee injury I wondered what I could do.

“It was only a month after I finished playing that I placed an advert in the Echo and got a response off seven people whose houses I went to, then I got an office and everything just happened from there.”

The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets are priced £18.50, phone the box office on 0871 871 7649 or visit
