Puressence to perform at Stanley Theatre, Liverpool

PURESSENCE are promoting new album Solid State Revival with a tour which comes to Liverpool Guild of Students’ Stanley Theatre on Saturday.

The Manchester-based musicians are still buzzing from their collaboration with American folk legend Judy Collins on the track When Your Eyes Close.

Collins, a convert since she heard the band’s 2007 album Don’t Forget To Remember, says Puressence ‘swept me off my feet when I first heard them’.

Puressence have always been about the emotion since they formed in the early 90s after schoolmates Mudriczki and Tony Szuminski (drums) met Kevin Matthews (bass) and founding guitarist Neil MacDonald on the bus to The Stone Roses’ legendary Spike Island show in 1989.

Puressence married the attitude of the Roses with the haunting guitar rock of Joy Division and Echo and the Bunnymen.

Tickets are £9.50Šin advance. Telephone 0151 794 6868 or visit www.lgos.org.
