THE 150th birthday of one of classical music’s most enchanting composers will be marked in Manchester with a joint festival staged by the BBC Philharmonic and The Bridgewater Hall.
From Friday, January 20, Japanese pianist Noriko Ogawa will lead the celebrations of the life of Claude Debussy in a series called Reflections On Debussy.
Ogawa is known as one of the world’s finest interpreters of Debussy’s music following her acclaimed recordings of his entire output for solo piano on the BIS label.
Debussy was famously enchanted by the Far East, and had a profound influence on composers in Ogawa’s native Japan.
Tickets are priced from £10-£33.50 and full listings for Reflections On Debussy are available from The Bridgewater Hall box office by calling 0161 907 9000 or visiting www.bridgewater-hall. co.uk or bbc.co.uk/ philharmonic
