Crewe youngsters bring Broadway hit Rent to the Lyceum

YOUNG musical performers from across South Cheshire will showcase their talents next week in the musical, Rent.

Staged by Curtain Call Productions, the musical has run on Broadway for a number of years and wowed teenage and adult audiences alike.

It will run at the Lyceum Theatre in Crewe from Wednesday, May 16, to Saturday, May 19.

The show is being directed by Joel Montague, who has taken time off from the UK tour of Sister Act.

As well as his directorial role, Joel is also taking the part of Roger.

He is well known for his appearances in the Yvonne School of Dancing’s Showtime productions over the years, as he is the son of Gail Montague, the school’s principal.

A spokesman said: “The pro-am adult cast of Rent, the youngest being 16 years old, has worked immensely hard to give the people of Crewe this one time opportunity to see the musical in the area.

“With the help of musical director Malcolm Forbes-Peckham, the vocal numbers are exceptional, as is the entire show production.”

Tickets are priced £8-£14, to book call 01270 686777 or visit www.lyceumtheatre.net.
