Music veterans team up for show at Crewe pub

One of the elder statesmen of the local music scene is to play a special acoustic show in Crewe on Saturday.

Nick Bayes, acclaimed local bassist and founder of the ‘Crewe Gig Guide’ website, will be joining the legendary Phil Maddocks for a ‘greatest hits’ show at The Nag’s Head on Market Street.

Regular collaborators over the last couple of years, Nick and Phil have toured throughout the North West and during 2012 played a host of summer festivals, with favourable comparisons being made to folk legends Richard Thompson and Bob Dylan.

Nick said: “Phil and I have enjoyed a great run of dates. The feedback from audiences has been tremendous and we are really looking forward to coming back to play in Crewe.

“The Nag’s Head is a fantastic venue.”

Support for the show comes from one of Crewe’s rising musical stars – Sink Or Swim frontman, Oli Ng, will be performing a solo acoustic set to open the evening in style.

This is a free show, and starts at 9pm.

ROCKERS Brazen boldly go to the Cosey Club in Haslington on Friday.

They have a varied rock pallet with tracks from Jethro Tull, The Foo Fighters and System Of A Down.

Rising star Tom Seals then gets involved on Saturday, bringing some of his musical friends with him.

Influenced by the likes of Jamie Cullum, Jools Holland and Michael Bublé, the 19-year-old virtuoso pianist performs a mixture of covers and his own songs.

Entry is free to members. For further information call 01270 584338 or visit www.coseyclub.co.uk.
