FOLLOWING a sell-out run at the 2012 Edinburgh Festival, the play Maurice’s Jubilee is opening its national tour at the Opera House Manchester from Thursday, January 24, to Saturday, January 26.
A Royal encounter. An enduring love. A bungalow in Penge. Maurice is determined to reach his 90th birthday, which is the day before the Diamond Jubilee. The Queen, having made him a promise 60 years before, is coming to tea. His wife is convinced he’s never met the Queen. His nurse thinks it’s time he did.
Maurice’s Jubilee is a hilariously funny and poignant take on timeless themes, the exploration of one man’s enduring commitment to a dream, and an eternal love triangle, fallen on hard times.
Maurice’s Jubilee is Olivier Award- winning Nichola McAuliffe’s most recent play and she will reprise her role at the Opera House as Katie, alongside Olivier Award-winning Julian Glover (Maurice) and Benidorm’s Sheila Reid.
Maurice’s Jubilee is at the Opera House, Quay St, Manchester from Thursday January 24 to Saturday Jan 26 with evening shows at 7.30pm and Thursday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm. Tickets are £10-£29.50. 0844 871 3018 or www.atgtickets/manchester* (*booking fees apply)
