CHESTER: September 10-November 6 - Elusively Charming - The Art of Ethal Gabain - during the early 20th century, the quality and originality of Ethel Gabain’s work ensured she became a distinguished painter and lithographer. This exhibition explores Ethel’s life and the themes that infused her art, at Grosvenor Museum’s Exhibition Gallery Two.

CHESTER: September 5-October 28 - Buttons and Bows: Ladies Fashion 1900-1925 - the early 20th century saw massive social changes with the Suffragette movement and the First World War, and fashion reflected these turbulent times. This mini-photographic exhibition explores the changing face of fashion from the end of the Victorian age to the inter-war era, at Chester History & Heritage in Bridge Street Row.

CHESTER: September 1-30 - William Dobson: A Celebration - September sees the 400th anniversary of the birth of William Dobson, the first native genius of British art, who put a face to the Englush Civil War. The exhibition highlights a triple portrait of Mary Done, one of Dobson’s most remarkable early paintings, at Grosvenor Museum’s Art Gallery.

CHESTER: August 6-September 25 - Housing The City’s Treasures: The Early History of the Grosvenor Museum - exhibition looking at the early days of the museum, showcasing key objects from the founding collections as part of the venue’s 125th birthday celebrations, at Grosvenor Museum’s Newstead Gallery.

CHESTER: July 23-July 1 2012 - Fifties Frocks: Female Fashion from the 1950s - an exhibition of day and evening dresses, cocktail and dance dresses, ranging from the Parisian haute couture of Dior and Jacques Fath to those made in Wilmslow and Liverpool, at Grosvenor Museum’s Costume Gallery.

CHESTER: July 9-October 2 - Views From The Walls - take a tour around the walls and all the sites along the route, exploring their Roman origins, Saxon and medieval additions, Civil War conflict and Georgian elegance, at Grosvenor Museum’s Exhibition Gallery One.
