Man arrested after attempted armed robbery in Holywell

AN 18-year-old man has been arrested after an attempted armed robbery in Holywell.

Police were called just before 11am today (Friday) after a man demanded money and threatened staff with a knife at the Streets of Gold store on Cross Street.

Nobody was injured during the incident and nothing was taken.

The man was arrested a short time later in Holywell on suspicion of attempted robbery, and is awaiting questioning at Wrexham custody suite.

North Wales Police spokesman Mike McGivern said detectives were 'keeping an open mind' over whether the offence could be linked to an armed robbery in Queensferry on Monday morning, when a lone knifeman threatened staff and stole jewellery from The Gold Shop on Station Road.
