Woman arrested in Broughton in investigation into naming of Ched Evans rape victim

A WOMAN was arrested in Broughton this morning (Tuesday) as part of an investigation into the naming of a rape victim on social media sites.

The comments were allegedly made after Sheffield United and Wales striker Ched Evans was jailed for raping a 19-year-old woman near Rhyl, Denbighshire.

North Wales Police today also arrested three men and three women from the Rhyl, Prestatyn and Llanddulas areas and men in Colwyn Bay and Abergele as part of the investigation.

North Wales Police detective sergeant Bob Halford said: “We continue to be proactive in this investigation and anticipate that further arrests will be made in the near future.”

Last week three men were arrested in South Yorkshire, two under Section 5 of the Sexual Offences Amendments Act and another male on suspicion of malicious communication, and have been released on bail.
