NORTH Wales firms have shown their support for this year’s Flintshire Business Awards.
The council-run awards are entering their fifth year and 11 companies are sponsoring the various categories, which are open to businesses of all sizes and sectors.
The awards showcase the achievements of Flintshire firms – and their profile has gone from strength to strength.
Last month the Chronicle revealed that Mold-based firm AGS Security Systems was the headline sponsor of the 2011 awards, as well as sponsoring the Young Entrepreneur Award.
The full line-up of award categories and the companies who are sponsoring them are:
Business Person of the Year: Convatec
Employer of the Year: Gardners Accountants
Environment: West Coast Energy
Innovation: B2 Business Systems
People Development: Careers Wales
Small Business: Federation of Small Businesses
Social & Community: Duncan Sheared Glass Chartered Accountants
Sustainability: UPM – Kymmene (UK) Limited
Tourism: Flintshire County Council/ Tourism Partnership North Wales
Women into Business: ParkwayTelecom
Young Entrepreneur: AGS Security Systems – who won the Small Business Award in 2009.
The company has undergone a significant period of growth and managing director Jonathan Turner believes the award has played a significant part in the company’s success.
Adam Dandy, managing director of Dandy’s Landscape Supplies Centre, was the winner of last year’s Business Person of the Year Award and the Young Entrepreneur Award.
He said: “The awards gained have not only added prestige to our business but they have also helped to promote us in the public eye.
“Dandy’s always gets involved in Flintshire Business Week and the awards night is a great way to end off the week’s proceedings.”
The 2011 winners receive their awards during a black tie event which attracts more than 200 guests.
This year’s ceremony will be held at Soughton Hall, between Northop and Sychdyn, on October 14.
