A TELECOMS solutions company has made a giant technological leap which has enabled it to compete with big businesses.
Deeside Industrial Park-based firm iData installed FibreSpeed broadband on Friday in a move which means it can provide higher-quality, more efficient data solutions to customers – for less money.
Director Chris Quayle said: “We want FibreSpeed because we need it. We want to save people money on calls and are seen as a ‘mini-BT’.
“We use VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) – phone calls over the internet instead of a physical copper line – which means the rental cost is lower and makes a saving of 33%.
“It also means a quicker upload speed and with SIP (Session Initiation Protocol ) we can set up remote phone calls.
“This was really useful last winter, when we couldn’t work at the office because of the snow. We took the phones home, plugged them in, and worked as if we were at the office.”
He added: “This has been the fastest FibreSpeed installation they have ever done and we are absolutely over the moon.
“They have brought work forward and been really professional and can show Flintshire is definitely open for business.”
FibreSpeed account manager Dale Weedman said: “FibreSpeed is a Welsh Government initiative and, in a way, we are the iPhone and companies such as iData are the apps that go along with it.
“We can deliver these opportunities to the area and prevent businesses relocating to other parts of the UK.”
