Coleg Llysfasi students volunteer at Clywd Special Riding Centre, Llanfynydd

COLLEGE students have been lending a hand at Clwyd Special Riding Centre in Llanfynydd.

Animal care students from Coleg Llysfasi, part of Deeside College, volunteered at the charity, which provides support to those with special needs.

The students worked alongside other volunteers at the centre, helping to care for the horses and provide support to the centre’s users.

After the placement the animal care department agreed to sponsor one of the centre’s horses.

Animal care tutor Alex Morgan said: “All of the students involved in this task gave 100% to the cause.

“Volunteering, especially in local organisations such as the Clwyd Special Riding Centre, is something that we as a college encourage all of our students to do, benefiting the local communities and enhancing the individuals skills and experience.”

The centre welcomes more than 200 people a week, who benefit from riding as a form of therapy.

Sessions can improve muscle strength, suppleness, balance and co-ordination, as well as enhancing self-esteem, confidence, communication abilities and safety awareness.
