Flintshire grandson of JRR Tolkien stars in film Pimp

THE grandson of JRR Tolkien is in the frame in his latest project.

Royd Tolkien, of Flintshire, plays himself in the upcoming film Pimp, starring Danny Dyer.

The film is a week in the life of Woody (Robert Cavanah), a Soho pimp, as seen through the eyes of concealed documentary cameras.

Royd, who helped to produce the film, said: “It’s a really good cast.

“It was filmed in Soho and is a British gangster thriller.

“We’re doing a multi-platform release, it is out in theatres May 21 and on May 24 it will be released on DVD and online.

“I became good friends with Robert Cavanah when living in LA and we began talking about projects to do together and set up our own production company, R & R Films.

“Pimp is one of about eight-10 films we have on our books at the moment.

“It’s been well-received by the critics.”

More than 3,000 people are following the film at www.facebook. com/pimpfan. For more on the film, visit www.pimpthefilm.com.
