Buckley Town Council has welcomed new mayor Ian Thomas

BUCKLEY councillors and residents gathered at the town hall on Tuesday to watch the inauguration of Buckley’s new mayor.

Town Councillor Ian Thomas replaced Cllr Carol Ellis as mayor for 2010-11, with Cllr Mike Peers taking up his place as deputy mayor.

Cllr Ellis was praised for her hard work as mayor, during which she raised more money for her chosen charities, the Diana Nurses and Nightingale House Hospice, then any of her predecessors.

Cllr Thomas’s chosen charities are The Hospice of the Good Shepherd, Crimebeat and Welsh Border Community Transport.

“I hope I can live up to the high standards set by my predecessors and do a good job for Buckley,” said Cllr Thomas.
