North Wales AM Mark Isherwood calls for holiday park support

NORTH Wales AM Mark Isherwood has called for more support for holiday parks, after a visit to a Gwespyr caravan site.

Mr Isherwood, who recently visited Treetops Caravan Park, challenged Heritage Minister Alun Ffred Jones in the Assembly over calls from the holiday park sector in North Wales to promote parks positively in the Welsh Government’s marketing strategy.

He said: “On my visit to Treetops, I was told this site alone brings in £1m each year to the local economy.

“They need recognition of their importance from the Welsh Government and Visit Wales.”

Mr Jones said: “In the main, the work of Visit Wales is to attract people to Wales in general.

“That is being done effectively. The new advertising campaign is already online and on the television, and it has received a very positive welcome.

“In fact, by getting people to North Wales, it should be of benefit to all areas of the tourism industry.”
