A YOUNG driver whose car overturned, seriously injuring his teenage passenger, will face trial in the new year.
Shaun Wynne Parry, 19, of Pen-y-Maes Gardens, Holywell, is charged with driving his Ford Fiesta dangerously on the A525 in Rhewl, near Ruthin, on November 29, 2009.
He pleaded not guilty on Friday, but said he was guilty of driving without due care and attention.
Prosecutor David Mainstone said that was not acceptable and the case was set for a trial on the dangerous driving charge.
It is alleged firefighters cut the front-seat passenger out of the vehicle and that she suffered ‘life-changing injuries’.
Mold Crown Court was told the passenger, a prosecution witness, was now confined to a wheelchair.
Judge John Rogers QC said it would be more convenient for the witness if the trial was held at Caernarfon Crown Court.
