FLINTSHIRE Neighbourhood Watch’s Online Watch Link (OWL) scheme has achieved the runner-up award for best communication in the Network Wales Awards 2010 in Cardiff.
Administrator Jackie Lee said: “It is great that OWL has been recognised as one of the most effective communication methods in Wales.
“Flintshire and Wrexham are very safe areas to live, but the actual fear of crime is sometimes high.
“People say that it makes them feel safer in their homes. This, in itself, is a massive achievement for the OWL system.”
OWL sends crime alerts out by telephone, email, text message and fax, keeping residents one step ahead of the opportunist criminal.
