Mold car enthusiast sets up Fiat 500 club

A MOTORING enthusiast from Mold is looking for like-minded lovers of the Fiat 500.

Geraint Thomas, of Bromfield Lane, has set up a monthly club for fans of the small car.

He says: “With the rising cost of fuel, small eco-cars are becoming increasingly popular on the road.

“And the Fiat 500 is a lovely, cheeky little car.”

The 37-year-old driving instructor has owned a Fiat 500 for two years and has a simple way of raising awareness about the club.

“If I’m out and about and spot one in a car park I stop and leave a note for the driver on the windscreen,” he told the Chronicle.

“I’ve even asked students to stop the car during a driving lesson so I can leave a note – they think I’m barking mad.

“It seems to be working as I’ve had a couple of calls, one from a lady in Chester and another from a lady in Hawarden.”

And it’s not just the students who think Geraint is crazy!

“My wife Sandra thinks I’m round the bend,” he said.

“But then again she knew that when she met me. She doesn’t mind too much – it keeps me out of trouble!”

The club will meet on the first Thursday of the month at the Antelope pub in Rhydymwyn.
