CHILDREN at Busy Bees Day Nursery in Ewloe are helping to create a colourful garden for a major flower show.
The youngsters based their garden for the RHS Show at Tatton Park on the much-loved film The Wizard of OZ and are working with Busy Bees nursery’s across the region to bring the design to life.
The Ewloe children and staff are responsible for creating Dorothy’s ruby slippers and have been busy planting, watering and sowing seeds.
The slippers have been made from chicken wire and will be filled with bright red flowers.
Nursery manager Vickie Peers said: “Staff and children have been working really hard on this project – staff have even taken plants home over the bank holiday to look after them. We are looking forward to seeing it all come together.”
Last year they created a garden based on the book The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle which was awarded highly commended status by the judges – the highest praise given to any school.
“Hopefully this year’s garden will be even better,” added Vickie. “We have a double plot and I am sure that it will look amazing.”
The RHS Show at Tatton Park in Cheshire runs from July 20-24.
