SCHOOLCHILDREN have been helping police target speeding drivers.
Officers have been out and about with Year 6 children from Broughton Junior School in a bid to make motorists more aware of the dangers of breaking the speed limit.
PCSO Jason Knowles said the drive came after concerns were raised that drivers were ignoring the 30mph restriction on Broughton Hall Road.
Checks were carried out on Monday to increase motorists’ awareness of their speed around schools.
PCSO Knowles said the aim of the day was to educate drivers, and most caught speeding were pulled over for a chat with police about how their driving could be dangerous and the penalties they could face.
“We wanted to focus on education rather than enforcement,” said PCSO Knowles.
“Hopefully having the children with us will have had more impact and made drivers think twice about their speed.”
