Public consultation on Northern Gateway, Deeside, could start within weeks

IT COULD be just a matter of weeks before Flintshire residents are asked for their views on a multi-million pound development project that could transform Deeside.

The Northern Gateway blueprint is taking shape and according to developers Praxis Holdings a masterplan is not far from completion.

Buildings at the former RAF Sealand base have been demolished to make space for the 400-acre project and work on the site’s infrastructure is now ‘at an advanced stage’.

Stuart Fox from Praxis said: “Over the summer we have made great progress. We have completed highways work, looked at flooding risks and considered what mix of uses we would have on the site.

“We are nearly ready to go out and speak to the public about the plans. Hopefully this will happen towards the end of September,” added Mr Fox.

“The views of residents are very important and we wanted concrete proposals to show people.”

The development will comprise homes, offices and warehouses. It is expected to form one of the UK’s largest employment sites and could take up to 15 years to complete.
