Flintshire scooter clubs deliver presents to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd
A GROUP of scooter riders braved torrential rain to deliver some Christmas cheer to children at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.
A total of 38 riders from scooter clubs in the North Wales and Borders Alliance set off from the Petrolheads cafe on the A548 in Bagillt on Sunday morning and made their way to the hospital in Bodelwyddan to deliver presents to youngsters in the Paddington Ward.
Organiser Loz Harrison, from Flint, said: “The rain was leathering it down when we got to Bagillt but once we started riding up there it eased off a bit.
“It was worth it once we got there to see the looks on the children’s faces when we handed over the presents.
“It was a fantastic day and really humbling. The ward staff were more than grateful for the presents we brought.”
Riders from 11 different clubs, including Flintshire Oddballs, Nomads and Wrexham, took part in the ride, which was the first of its kind.
Loz said: “We normally take part in another run to the Countess of Chester but this year I decided we should do something for children in our own area as well.
“A lot of the riders have had children treated at the hospital so it was nice to be able to give something back.”
The group took selection boxes for all the children, which were handed out by four members who dressed as Santa.
They also took sacks filled with presents for Christmas.
Loz is already planning to organise an Easter egg run to the hospital next year.
