Police appeal after woman is robbed in Holywell

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed in Holywell.

The incident happened at 4.25pm yesterday, Thursday, January 19, when a 57-year-old local woman was walking through a short alleyway off the High Street leading to the Somerfield supermarket and the leisure centre.

The victim was pushed to the ground, kicked and robbed of her handbag.

The offender is described as a man in his 20s of medium build and medium height. He was wearing a black anorak with a peaked hood, dark tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

DCI Steve Williams said: “This was a despicable crime against a woman going about her business. Thankfully her injuries are not serious. Our inquires show that there were plenty of people in the vicinity at the time would have heard the woman call for assistance.

“We are confident that someone must have seen something and we would appeal for people to come forward.”

Police are studying CCTV footage of the area and making inquiries at local retail stores.

Anyone with information is asked to call North Wales Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 55511.
