Business booming at Penyffordd pub The Millstone

A VILLAGE pub is enjoying a new lease of life.

The Millstone Inn in Penyffordd reopened in September, but villagers were concerned after the pub on Hawarden Road closed again late last year.

However owners Punch Taverns soon found two new faces to run it – licensee Nicola Cattam and manager Gary Joy.

And Penyffordd blogger Colin Hughes, who runs the community website penyffordd-district.blogspot.com, told the Chronicle the Millstone appears to be blossoming under its new bosses.

He said: “The past few weeks it seems to have been very busy. It’s encouraging to see because everyone in the village wants it to do well.”

A spokeswoman for Punch Taverns said: “Since Nicola and Gary took on the pub it’s gone from strength to strength and they have brought it back to the heart of the village.

“They have introduced a variety of offers, including a popular Sunday carvery and a range of competitively priced beers.

“The feedback from the locals has been excellent and we hope Nicola and Gary keep up the good work.”

Nicola and Gary also plan give the pub’s outdoor area a makeover in time for the summer.
