THE wife of the Speaker of the House of Commons brought her children to Deeside for a half-term break with Flintshire’s newest celebrity resident.
Big Fat Gypsy Weddings star Paddy Doherty hosted Sally Bercow last week at Riverside Caravan Park in Queensferry, which he now calls home.
Former bare-knuckle brawler Paddy and Mrs Bercow met on Celebrity Big Brother – which the Irishman eventually won – last year, and the pair became unlikely friends.
They later appeared on Channel 5 fly-on-the-wall documentary When Paddy Met Sally last year.
Paddy told the Chronicle Mrs Bercow’s three children – aged seven, four and two – and their nanny also enjoyed the four-day break.
“It was a fantastic few days,” said Paddy, 53.
“Last time I saw Sally was when we did the show together, so it was lovely to catch up.
“We went swimming at Connah’s Quay baths and I took them to a horse sanctuary, it was brilliant week.”
On Valentine’s Day Mrs Bercow tweeted that she was ‘clambering around energetically in North Wales’.
While she enjoyed the sights of Flintshire, Mrs Bercow’s husband John was lecturing politics students at Harvard University in the US.
