Liverpool and Holland striker Dirk Kuyt to visit new-look JJB store in Broughton Shopping Park

A BROUGHTON sportswear store is on the ball as a Liverpool FC striker prepares to pay a visit.

JJB, which yesterday proudly showcased the FA Cup in its new-look Broughton Shopping Park branch, has invited Holland international Dirk Kuyt to appear next Monday.

Kuyt, who will be at the store from 2-3.30pm, will pull on the company’s uniform, serve customers and give youngsters advice on the latest pairs of football boots, while fans will have the chance to meet him and get an autograph.

The visit comes as JJB is marking the relaunch of its store by giving shoppers a more interactive experience – the first JJB branch in the UK to do so.

Customers will be able to put sporting equipment through its paces before committing to buy it, trying the latest football boots in the ‘D-Zone’ or have their running technique analysed in the Asics Running Lab.

Staff at the store have been trained to give the best advice, with many of them members of local sports clubs, coaches and personal trainers.

Claire Bayliss, head of marketing at JJB Sports, said: “A lot of work has been put into our store on Broughton Shopping Park – latest research and trends have been taken into account to ensure it’s everything our customers want from a sports retailer.

“With the improved layout, new product ranges, highly trained staff and a ‘try before you buy’ option, we’re hoping we’ve made JJB Sports in Broughton a one-stop shop for local people’s sporting needs.”

The store is also running a competition to give a local youngster the chance to be Liverpool’s mascot when they take on Aston Villa at Anfield on April 7. Kuyt will encourage young fans to enter the competition on the day of his visit.
