Membership increase at revamped Deeside Leisure Centre

MEMBERSHIPS at Deeside Leisure Centre have soared since a multi-million-pound revamp.

The Evolution Extreme Centre, which includes a large indoor skate park and a range of ramps and jumps for BMX riders, skateboarders, inline skaters and scooters, has attracted 500 junior members in its first five weeks – and is averaging 3,000 visits a week.

The newly refurbished gym now has 1,500 members and Cllr Dennis Hutchinson, Flintshire County Council’s executive member for leisure, said the demand had already exceeded expectations.

He said: “I believe that we have created something truly inspirational, with the investment paid for from the income the new facilities are generating.”
