Treuddyn farm shops wins host of awards
A FARM shop has been awarded for its practically perfect pies.
Swan’s Farm Shop in Treuddyn won 10 awards at the All Wales Awards for Excellence in Meat Products and was given 99.5% for its steak and ale pie.
Shop owner Clive Swan said the product, made by wife Gail, was only marked down for having too much meat in it.
And the shop’s youngest staff member, 16-year-old Peter Rushforth, won two of the awards for his work as a part-time butcher.
Mr Swan said: “Peter came here a couple of years ago on work experience and showed a real flair.
“He won two awards in the young butcher category and was up against people up to 25, so he’s had a cracking start and we’re chuffed to bits.”
The shop won gold for its sausage roll, lamb, rosemary and apricot sausage, steak and ale pie and steak and stilton pie.
It claimed silver for its apple and apricot pork sausages, Welsh dragon sausages, traditional pork sausages and black and cracked pepper sausages.
The couple gave up running the business at Ffrith Farm, Corwen Road, last year and rented it out, but returned after eight months.
