Man seriously injured in Ewloe crash

A FLINTSHIRE man was arrested and bailed after a crash which left a 22-year-old fighting for his life.

North Wales Police is appealing for witnesses after the collision at the junction of the A494 and A5125 adjacent to the St David’s Park Hotel in Ewloe some time before 12.45am on Thursday, May 24.

Pedestrian Antony Dyson, whose family are from Hawarden, was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital with multiple injuries after being hit by a vehicle and was later transferred to the Walton Centre in Liverpool.

On Friday a man was arrested and taken for questioning at Wrexham Police Station before being released on bail pending further enquiries.

A police spokesman said: “Anyone who may have been in the area between 11.35pm on Wednesday and 12.45am on Thursday and can help with inquires is asked to call police.”

Officers say the last known contact Antony had with his family or friends was a call made on his mobile phone at about 11.45pm, about 45 minutes before he was found.

According to his Facebook profile, Antony has served as an infantry soldier and is a fan of Chester FC.
