Hoola-hoopers from Mold and Buckley complete race

HOOLA-HOOPERS from Mold and Buckley made their way around a 5km course in aid of charity.

Hoola-hoop instructor Helen Bowness-Hughes, from Llanfynydd, was joined by about 20 members of her Mold and Buckley classes to take part in the Race For Life at Alyn Waters County Park in Llay, Wrexham.

Helen said: “Everyone enjoyed it and there haven’t been too many complaints about aches and pains afterwards.

“We raised some money and it was a good physical challenge too.”

The group raised about £500 for Cancer Research UK.

Helen had been holding extra classes to help participants practise hooping while walking.

She said: “Some of the women who took part have been coming to classes for ages but there was one girl who has only been coming for a couple of months and set herself the challenge.

“It was brilliant to see her finish it along with everyone else.”

All of the group completed the course within about an hour and 15 minutes.
